On alters throughout history, Mother Earth’s elements have traditionally been an integral part of all Rituals, and Ceremonies. Fire (Candles), Water (contained in something), Earth (contained in something), and, Air (Incense) – Incense was the most blessed part of ancient Magick and Religious Ceremonies. Although, one would wonder if the interpretations for the use of incense may also have included masking odors of sacrificial animals, which carried “prayers” to the Gods, thus creating a safe environment for the ancients and bountiful crops and harvests. The actual use for Herbs, Oils and Incense in Magick is their vibrations; that unique frequency of energy that everything possesses.
Genuine Herbs, Oils & Incense have the same basic chemical compounds and extracts. When Oils say that they’re “uncut” they mean that they haven’t been mixed with anything, and they will damage furniture and burn your skin if it contacts either. So, caution is seriously advised. Uncut Oils are used for making Incense and compounds requiring extra strength.
There are many kinds of effective Magick, but the two most commonly used are Wishing and Affirmations, which are completely different.
Affirmations – Full Moon to New Moon Wishing – New Moon to Full Moon
The techniques of Affirmations stimulate the male/yang aspect of ourselves, the powerful doer. For example, if a person is experiencing a lack of money, the Affirmation would be: “Without complications or consequences, I have the $10,000 to pay my bills, NOW!” That is an Affirmation. You would be affirming the end result of your spell (super prayer).
Scott Cunningham said it best when he said, “Call it what you like, visualize it as you may, the power really is the power.” He also put Magick into logical perspective with this definition: Magick is the practice of causing change through the use of powers as yet not defined or accepted by science.
